Hudson County, New Jersey

Located to the west of the lower Hudson River, Hudson County in New Jersey was the fastest growing county of this US state in terms of population as per data gathered in 2015. This county got its name from the sea captain Henry Hudson, who discovered this region in 1609.
Demographics
34.8 is the median age of people in this county of New Jersey. It’s interesting to note that native-born citizens are usually younger (with a median native age of 27.9 ± 0.5) as compared to their foreign-born counterparts (where median foreign age is 42 ± 0.6).
When you consider the heritage of people in Hudson County, you will find India, Dominican Republic and Mexico to be the top three countries of their origin. This NJ County has a relatively high number of people who were born in Uruguay, Costa Rica and Portugal.
The most common ethnicity or race is White, closely followed by Hispanics or Latinos. The rest of the racial makeup consists of Black or African Americans, Native Americans, Asians, Pacific Islanders, those belonging to other races and people from two or more races.
Proximity to NYC
Thanks to its proximity to New York City, which hosts one of the world’s extensive transportation systems together with one of the largest media markets and a fast growing hospitality industry, Hudson County is thronged by visitors coming to the New York metropolitan area and is a striking locale for sporting and corporate events too. This county is often called the sixth borough of NYC due to its proximity to Manhattan.
Population growth
In 2015, the rate at which Hudson County’s population grew surpassed all other counties in New Jersey as is shown in the figures of the U.S. Census. From July 2014 to July 2015, the county’s population experienced a 0.8% growth. This rise in Hudson County’s population is attributed to Jersey City’s building boom. But it’s not just Jersey City that got a boost in its number of residents. In fact, each of the municipalities of Hudson County is growing. For instance, the population of Secaucus increased by 13% between 2010 and 2014 to touch 18,416.
Interestingly, according to the U.S Census, Hudson County’s population has risen steadily since 2010 from 634,277 to 674,836. In fact, the 2010 Census figures say that 35,000 new residents were added to the county making it almost bust at the seams. Experts believe that trendy neighborhoods and magnificent views of the New York skyline have made Hudson County the state’s fastest growing county by a large margin.

The county’s total number of households stands at 246,437 as per the 2010 Census and the average household size is 2.33.
